Our company values

The personality of a business comes from the Values it holds, its Vision for the future and the clarity of the Mission to take it there. All are essential to success.

We set out to do things differently, support those who need it most and treat everyone equally - and that hasn’t changed. In every decision, we ask ourselves: What’s the right thing to do?

Whether it’s our customers or staff, we listen to what people need, respect what they have to say and make sure we deliver on our promises. By taking care of everyone, we aim to earn their trust - and keep it.

Being smart is in our DNA. As one of the first companies to kick start Britain’s smart meter revolution, we understand the value that technology can bring to people’s lives.

Our passion for tech means we’re always evolving and searching for ways to improve our services through innovation. We’re not afraid to be bold either. Our technology (and smart roots) are helping us transform the world around us for the better.

Sustainability has more than one meaning for our business. We will be a Net Zero business by 2030. We recognise this is an ambitious target, but one we’ll achieve by continuing to drive transformational changes to make a significant dent in global carbon emissions.
Our unique approach includes educating everyone on how small changes can have a big impact. It also means making decisions that ensure our stability and resilience. We’ve faced many challenges over the years and are still here… for the long-haul!

Think big, start small, but start today. Our sustainability strategy is helping lift households out of food and fuel poverty by developing sustainable products and services to help households live a lower cost, lower carbon lifestyle.

Utilita always wanted to make a difference

I joined Utilita back in 2011, unsure on what my career path would be at the time. Early on I learnt that Utilita always wanted to make a difference and help those who need it most, a passion we all share at Utilita.

After a couple of years, I saw a career path I wanted and Utilita invested time and effort in developing me to get me where I am today. Fast forward 11 years; I am now a department Head for a company I am extremely passionate about and have a degree in Leadership and Management.

Utilita’s culture remains supportive and challenging

During my 7 years at Utilita, I’ve moved departments, had different jobs and started managing people; while having the space to come up with ideas and deliver them.

Throughout change, Utilita’s culture remains supportive and challenging. Our customers can require a little extra help, so supporting them attracts a workforce that cares. It’s part of everything we do; Utilita Giving and Net Zero ambitions, to name a few. I look forward to working with the team to solve future challenges.

Allowing me to grow professionally into the role I am in today

Being part of the IT department in Utilita has really been a rewarding experience. I didn’t have a lot of tech experience when I joined but I have been supported throughout my time here, allowing me to grow professionally into the role I am in today.

Utilita genuinely cares for staff and customers, and this culture encourages everyone in the company to contribute. I’m proud to be doing my part by being on the Inclusion, Diversity and Equity board for gender. This focus on collaboration, creativity and purpose fosters an environment that allows me to thrive and make a positive impact with my team.
