Who can refer a friend?
The referer
You can refer a friend if:
- You’re a domestic Utilita customer in the UK
- You have an active Smart account with a working smart meter
- You’re not in the process of switching
The friend
Your friend must be:
- A new domestic Utilita customer in the UK
- On supply with us for at least 60 days

Generate your referral link
Getting your referral link from the My Utilita app is simple and only takes a few quick steps. Follow on below to start referring your friends in seconds!
Step 1
Open My Utilita
Open the My Utilita App, scroll to the bottom and select ‘Refer a Friend’. Don’t have the app? Download it from the Apple App Store or Google Play, then register your account.
Step 2
Get your referral link
Tap ‘Generate and share link’ to create your unique referral link. Each link is valid for 72 hours and can be redeemed by one friend. Want to refer more friends? Simply generate a new link for each friend.
Step 3
Share with a friend
Share your referral link to a friend by text, email, or any other way you like. Once shared, your friend enters your code when they switch.

Refer a Friend FAQs
Referring a friend is easy. Simply open My Utilita and select any ‘Refer a Friend’ option within the app to generate your unique referral link. You can then share it however you like – by text, WhatsApp, email, social media, or any other way that works for you.
Each referral link can only be used by one friend and will expire after 72 hours if it hasn’t been used. You can have up to three active referral links at any one time, and once a link has been used or expired, you can generate a new one.
There’s no limit to how many friends and family you can refer. You can have up to three active referral links at a time, but as soon as a link is used or expires, you’ll be able to generate another one. The more people you refer, the more rewards you can earn.
You’ll receive £50 credit on your electricity meter, and your friend will receive their £50 voucher, once they’ve been on supply with Utilita for 60 days from their Supply Start Date (SSD). There’s nothing you need to do – rewards will be issued automatically once your friend reaches the 60-day milestone.
You can check the status of every referral via your MyUtilita app.
Amazon gift cards do have an expiration date, which will be clearly displayed on the gift card once you receive it.
No problem! If you and your referred friend send an email to marketing@utilita.co.uk with proof of the switch and your referral code, we’ll do our best match the referral back to you.
