Utilita Business Energy marks a decade of powering British businesses

Utilita Business Energy (UBE), the commercial arm of Utilita, is celebrating its tenth anniversary – marking a decade of growth that has taken the company from a four‑person start‑up in Elmstead Market to a nationwide supplier supporting almost 10,000 organisations.

Founded in 2016 in Elmstead Market, Colchester, UBE has expanded steadily despite major industry challenges, including the pandemic and the 2021–22 energy crisis. The company now employs dozens of people, most of whom continue to work in and around its original Elmstead offices.

Today, UBE supplies a diverse mix of businesses across Britain – from local independents such as the Shed Café, located just minutes from its headquarters, to larger organisations including Luton Town FC.

Alongside energy supply, UBE has increasingly focused on helping customers reduce consumption and costs through sustainable technologies such as solar PV and battery storage.

Felicity Neaves, Head of Commercial Sales and Operations at Utilita Business Energy, said: “I’m incredibly proud that UBE is still here ten years on, continuing to punch above its weight and support thousands of businesses across Britain. There have been some tough moments along the way – particularly during the pandemic and energy crisis – but I’ve never felt more optimistic about where the business is heading.

“From day one, our aim was to give smaller UK businesses the kind of dedicated, high-quality support usually reserved for much larger organisations. That remains our mission today. We want to keep helping businesses of all sizes reduce their energy use and costs – delivering benefits for both their bottom line and the planet.”
