By the end of June 2025, the Radio Teleswitching Network (RTS) will be switched off. Meters that use this technology rely on radio signals to switch between unit rates at different points during the day.
If your meter uses this technology, it’ll need to be replaced with a new smart meter. But don’t worry – you won’t have to pay for a thing!
If you’re not sure whether you have an RTS meter, there’s a few things you can look out for:
Don’t worry, if you’re not sure if your meter needs to be replaced, we’ll be in touch with all affected customers to sort out a meter upgrade.
If you have a meter that’s connected to the RTS, we’ll need to replace this by June 2025. This is to make sure you don’t lose heating or hot water, and we can continue to bill you correctly for the energy you use.
No, but we’ll offer you a tariff that’s as similar as possible to your current one. We'll get in contact as soon as possible to discuss the replacement tariffs we have on offer for you and will be able to talk you through all your options over the phone.
If we don’t replace your meter - we won’t be able to charge you correctly for your energy. You may also be at risk of your heating or hot water being switched off, or stuck on an incorrect rate.
