How to use your Top-up Code

In a hurry and need to top-up your meter straight away? Use our handy guides and the unique Top-up Code from your top-up to add the credit to your meter now!

Secure SMETS1
  • Electricity Meter
    For both gas and electricity SMETS1 meters;
    1. Press A on your meter.
    2. Enter your Top-up Code.
    3. Press B to confirm.

    For both gas and electricity SMETS1 meters;
    1. Press A on your meter.
    2. Enter your Top-up Code.
    3. Press B to confirm.

Meter messages and codes

Unsure what some of the messages on your smart meter mean? Don’t worry – we’ve got a handy guide of all the messages that your meter might display, and what they mean.

  • Electricity Meter

    Accepted

    Your top-up has successfully gone on to your meter.


    Rejected – Duplicate

    Your Top-Up Code has already been used.


    Rejected – Invalid

    Your Top-Up Code is not correct for your meter. Check that you’re not entering an electricity Top-Up Code into your gas meter, or vice versa.


    Rejected – Incomplete

    You have not entered the entire Top-Up Code and have missed a few digits.


    Rejected – Incorrect

    Your Top-Up Code has been entered incorrectly - please try again.

  • Gas Meter

    Accepted

    Your top-up has successfully gone on to your meter.


    Rejected – Duplicate

    Your Top-Up Code has already been used.


    Rejected – Invalid

    Your Top-Up Code is not correct for your meter. Check that you’re not entering an electricity Top-Up Code into your gas meter, or vice versa.
