Which type of boiler is best? This guide covers the two most common types of boiler and central heating options; system boilers and combi (combination) boilers.
Combi (or combination) boilers are the UK’s most popular type for gas central heating and hot water. They provide heat to your radiators but heat hot water for your taps on demand (when you turn it on or run a hot shower). This means you’re saving energy by not keeping a full cylinder of hot water heated if only a small amount of hot water is required.
System boilers are particularly suitable for heating larger homes that use more hot water (if you have more than one bathroom). It pumps hot water to the radiators and cylinder (usually in the airing cupboard or loft). And you can run more than one tap at the same time.
